Dr. N. Rakesh Chandra has pursued Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University
Hyderabad in 2014. He has been a JRF in ISRO RESPOND project and a visiting scientist,
National Atmospheric Research Laboratories (NARL) an autonomous institute funded
by Department of Space, Government of India. His research work is focused on observations
of Meteors and meteors generated irregularities in E - region ionosphere. He has also studied
the role played by meteors in the formation of metallic layers in ionosphere using Na LIDAR.
He has more than 14 publications in reputed National & International journals and conferences.
Received Best paper award from Astronomical Society of India (ASI) in 2016. Currently his
research work is focussed on the effect of meteorite impacts on LUNAR surface using
CHANDRAYAAN – 2, NASA’s AlaMO telescope and coupling of different atmospheric
layers. Currently he is guiding two research scholars for their doctoral degree. He has visited
National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR), Tokyo, Japan during May 27 – 31, 2017 for
presenting his work in MST15/iMST2 international conference. He is a life time member of
Astronomical Society of India (ASI).
